Mardi Gras / Carnaval
As you already know, we had to postpone Mardi Gras but a new date has been set, March 27th is the new date. The children cannot wait to show their costumes! Details of this event will be explained in our next newsletter.
French Cultures Festival – Mois de la Francophonie
Throughout themonth of March, in Houston, the French consulate and French organizations, restaurants,schools are going to create series of events.
As last year wewill celebrate it during the third week of March. Each classroom will focus on a particularregion / country and the students will do manual activities every day and theirworks will be exhibited in each classroom. On Friday, March 23rd,students will then go to each classroom with a “passport” where they will learnand discover what their comrades learned and created. We will really appreciateif you could part of this celebration by lending objects, clothes, artifacts …from your native country.
In addition, itwould be great if you could bring a traditional dish from your country onFriday, March 23rd and have lunch with your child in his/herclassroom.
Spring BreakWeek is Just Around the Corner…
The week of March 12th-March16th isscheduled spring break week for many public and private schools in the Houstonarea. Make sure to let us know if you child(ren) will not be attending school during this time. We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing spring break! Pleasenote that the school will be closed onFriday March 16th.
Attendance and absences
Classes start daily between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Please do your best to be on time as Miss Natasha is not always in thefront office starting at 9:00am. We donot want your child to miss valuable morning ritual or activity. Moreover, we want your child to acquire goodhabits at an early age and if your child is sick, or you do not plan to come,please give a quick call or send us an email. Thank you.
Go Texan Day
We are a unique French school located in Texas and we would like to introduce a Texas tradition and build an awareness of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to our students. A mobile Petting Zoo will be at our school Friday, February 24th from 9:30 to 11:30. So let’s turn back the clock to the era of the Old West and let your children come to the school dressed in Western attire. Yeeehaaa !

Halloween Party
Halloween is right around the corner. We will have a party for the children on Monday, October 31st from 9:00 to 11:00. Please have your child wear his/her favorite costume (no scary costumes such as skeleton costumes, they do scare younger children), and please bring a change of clothes for your child(ren) if they nap or need to be more comfortable.
French Educational Magazine Opportunity
Families and teachers are invited to join a magazine program through “Milan Press” It is a great program with great children’s magazines such as Pomme d’api, Picoti, and Toupie. I placed a catalogue in your mailboxes located under the sign-in/out machine. In addition, I placed the magazines on a table to help you choose among the many great magazines that you can choose from.
Please complete the “subscription form” by October 31st and drop it off in Miss Charlotte’s office. Please note that all proceeds from the Children’s Book Sale will support La Maternelle and for every 10 subscriptions we will obtain a free subscription. Thanks for your participation.

Mrs. Paulette Kirolos-Sabet (Magdy “Mickey”’s mother) gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Keeko , who was born September 23rd. We wish the Kirolos-Sabet family well !
